Granddaughter Ava checks out the press proof of The Magic of Medora.
I'm excited to announce that my book, "The Magic of Medora," is currently at the printer and available for presale. Books will be available in early August. Written in Theodore Roosevelt's voice, this book takes readers on a journey from the geological formation of the Badlands, through the boom, bust and restoration of Medora, to the planning of TR's Presidential Library, opening in Medora, ND, in 2026. While created with the middle-school reader in mind, the book is an easy-read resource for the whole family to enjoy before, during and after their visit to Medora.

My illustration of Theodore Roosevelt when he first traveled to Medora to hunt bison.
The idea for the book started in 2020 when I took our granddaughter Ava, then 8, to Medora. She loved it, but was confused. So much history. So many stories. All these people. What did they mean to Medora? We searched for a book that would connect all the dots, but we didn't find one. So we decided to write one!
For the past two years, with help from our nine grandchildren, I've been researching, writing and (for the first time ever) creating illustrations for this magical book. And now it's almost ready! I must thank Ava for inspiring me, plus express my appreciation to the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation for its endorsement and support for the publication costs.
Here's a preview of the 45 illustrations contained in The Magic of Medora.

Special release events are in the works for later this summer in Medora, and I will be having a show of my artwork and a booksigning event at The Capital Gallery in Bismarck this Fall. Details coming soon. If you believe you won't be able to attend any of the events but would like a signed copy, please drop me an email at linda@lindadonlinfineart.com.
